Working principle
Glow plug is an electric heating device, usually located inside the intake manifold or combustion chamber of a diesel engine. When the engine is started or operating in a low temperature environment, the glow plug is heated by electric current, heating the surrounding air or fuel to a higher temperature. This can improve the ignition performance of the fuel, making the fuel easier to burn, thus increasing the reliability and efficiency of the start.
Once the diesel engine reaches the normal operating temperature, the role of the glow plug is no longer needed, so it usually automatically turns off or stops heating after the engine temperature reaches a certain threshold. This avoids overheating and energy waste. In short, the main function of diesel glow plug is to provide additional combustion assistance in cold starting or low temperature environments to increase startup reliability and efficiency.
