The ignition coil is one of the indispensable and important parts of the car ignition system. The ignition coil is easily damaged by the influence of high temperature and high pressure working environment. So what are the symptoms of the ignition coil failure and how long is the ignition coil changed?

IGNITION COIL

The ignition coil, simply put, allows the spark plug to "produce a spark" that ignites the part of the cylinder where the gas is mixed.

In fact, it is responsible for converting the low-voltage current flow of the car into a high-voltage transformer. Under normal circumstances, each cylinder is equipped with a set of ignition coil and spark plug, which will be replaced after 80,000 kilometers or even longer.

What are the problems caused by ignition coil failure?

With the use of vehicles, ignition coil insulation, reliability, ignition performance will slowly decline.

When the ignition coil performance is degraded, the spark plug ignition energy is insufficient, the fuel mixture is not burning enough, and more and more carbon will be attached to the spark plug electrode. And too much carbon accumulation will lead to weak spark plug discharge intensity, or even unable to discharge, thus accelerating the aging of the ignition coil.

What is the cause of ignition coil cracking?

1, ignition coil burst position is generally at the epoxy surface, mainly due to high temperature;

2, when replacing the wrong line, or miss to install additional resistance leading to the primary winding current is too large, too much heat resulting in low voltage skeleton melting;

3, the original ignition controller current limit function damage, resulting in excessive current, ignition coil damage due to high temperature;

4. Large temperature difference between cold and hot leads to cracking of shell and epoxy surface;

5, rain or car wash wet ignition coil, short circuit, burn ignition coil; due to welding, casting, multi-layer bonding process problems caused by cracking;

6, insulation materials can not withstand vibration, high and low temperature difference, corrosion of the working environment.

Why does ignition coil burn out?

1. Abnormal high temperature of the engine causes ignition coil to melt in contact with the body, mostly at the location screw;

2. When replacing the ignition coil, the wrong line is connected, or the additional resistance is missed to lead to short circuit or excessive current to burn out the coil, which mostly occurs at the insertion line and inside the coil;

3. The current limiting function of the original ignition controller is damaged, or the upper flow energy of the computer board fails, resulting in excessive coil current and high temperature and burning out the ignition coil;

4, ignition coil internal damage, short circuit, breakdown caused by high temperature burning loss.

When should the ignition coil be replaced?

Generally, the maintenance manual of the vehicle factory will indicate that the spark plug must be replaced every 20,000 turbocharged vehicles and every 30,000 kilometers of naturally aspirated vehicles. As the use of the vehicle, the spark plug will be gradually worn, resulting in an increase in electrode clearance, thus increasing the ignition coil and boosting load. The higher the ignition coil heat, insulation aging faster, over time, vehicle fuel consumption will not only increase, ignition coil is also easy to be broken down caused by short circuit or circuit breaker.

It is recommended that owners should check and replace the ignition coil every two times the spark plug (60,000-80,000km). Like replacing all spark plugs in a package, the ignition coil needs to be replaced in one package.

For ignition coil protection, usually car need to pay attention to what?

1. Prevent the ignition coil from being heated or damp;

2. Do not turn on the ignition switch when the engine is not running;

3. Regularly check, clean, and fasten the line connectors to avoid short circuits or grounding;

4. Control the engine performance and prevent the voltage from being too high;

5. The moisture on the ignition coil can only be dried with a cloth, and must not be baked with fire, otherwise the ignition coil will be damaged
